Searching Happiness !
When I talk of happiness, images
of toddlers, small kids flash to my mind. The smile and energy kids are
bestowed with do teach us a lot, volumes of intellect can be learned if we
observe their innocence. Every grown up adult today was once a kid! Our basic nature is to be happy and cheerful.
Play with a kid and discover the infinite ways to be happy, discover the infinite
zeal to achieve something. Discover to let go pain of a knee injury on the
sight of a smile. Discover the perseverance to play, to go to market or a
garden each day! Discover the life…
This behavior in itself amuses me
as well as makes me think deep inside. When does this small kid diminish in us
and turns in a mature person? When do we realize that it’s not worth to play,
it’s not worth to always speak truth, it’s not worth to always give a smile to
strangers !.. In this worth not to process we process ourselves as grown up
individuals and capable people to lead life. We as grown up individuals
have lots of objectives, lots of goals
may be short term goals, may be long term goals and so on … Life does revolve
around these goals and we achieve some of these , some we loose and some goals lose
their significance. When we achieve some goal we feel happy, it gives a sense
of accomplishment, fulfillment that’s completely natural. When we lose a goal,
we become unhappy, we feel bad about it. That is also completely natural. We
are humans and will be governed by these natural traits that Mother Nature
bestowed us with. We cannot expect every
individual to be Yogi who will be indifferent to these stimulating results of
our own set goals. Yeah at the same time, Yogis will certainly be expecting us
to react in a balanced manner to each situation, and that’s the key of being
happy.
It is our own reaction to a
result that decides our magnitude of being happy or sad. When these reactions
interfere with our behavior to an extent which affects our daily life, our
attitude, it’s in fact an indication that something somewhere is wrong.
Feeling embarrassed and guilty on
realizing (in a party) that the shoe which I am wearing is torn or laughing on
it and sitting quietly on a chair with a smile on your face are two reactions
and it is upto us to choose any of these two.
Having a suicidal tendency on knowing that a person has been fired from Job
or searching web for a new job are two situations to choose from. Scolding a kid for poor performance in exams
or to encourage and help him to study is another situation.
Our own reactions to above
situations will decide whether we choose to be happy or sad. Our basic nature
is to be happy. Happiness is a decision to be taken! We cannot be dependent on
anything to be happy. Happiness is creation of our own mind. It is healthiness
of mind.
The first good thing is to
realize that something is wrong, when we know something is wrong then only we
can take steps to set it right.
Let us all be grown-ups as well as
kids we used to be, Let us learn to laugh for small reasons, and let us learn
to be happy for no reason. We search for reasons to be happy. Reasons change,
circumstances change but if we want our happiness to stay with us always we
should first learn to live life. We should learn that we are not indispensable! This is life, not a set story written by some
of our own friend who will not write bad situations for us. Situations can be
bad, these may be worse, the key is to stay calm, the key is to believe that it
is temporary. Same is the fact which remains true for good situations, those situations
are also temporary! We cannot feel bad since a particular situation of
happiness did not stay long. These situations should bring a smile on our face but
should not affect us to a huge extent.. Remember when we were kids we didn’t need
any reason to be happy.
Let us feel the morning sun
shine, let us cherish that. Let us feel the twinkling in eyes of a needy when
we help him or her. Let us listen to the chirping of birds and that will bring
happiness to us. Let us feel the cool breeze of wind in winters. That will
bring smile to us. Let us not allow kid inside us to die to fade away. Let us
all be matured individuals and kids at the same time.
Do the things that bring smile on
your face… Follow your heart, follow your soul, Soul is the best guide ! Do recognize its voice … Mastery
this art and life is yours. This is the key to happiness and to happy life!
Be happy for no reason! Be happy
for nature! Be happy for yourself!
